In an ever-changing world of social and political unrest we feel forced to fight for our once secure identities. Our beliefs and our once thriving lives have been placed under increasing threat by a twentieth century phenomenon, the will to destroy our existence in anyway possible. More and more people want to explore beyond the boundaries of their home country, to escape, to find that new life elsewhere in the world. Have you ever honestly asked yourself, what would it be like to do just that? We lost our vision of our future in the UK and we did something about it, we now have a much happier more fulfilled life. A Life Like Mine is a heartfelt family memoir that will give you a personal insight into our lives as we embarked on our quest to find that new life. Follow our ups and downs along the way as we struggled against financial hardship and terrible homesickness due to family tragedy. Experience the intriguing world of emigration from the comfort of your home and share our journey. Discover that there is another life out there that can be reached.

Since our very first emigration experience, leaving North Wales, UK to New Zealand both Lance and I felt that there was not enough true-life emigration accounts to relate to. Yes we watched the emigration shows on TV but that was TV and despite the very real dramas that those people experienced those shows never quite satisfied the need to find others in our shoes or indeed others who have completed their emigration journey.

As our own family experiences built I felt the ongoing need to write about them, indeed many family and friends also suggested the same. In the beginning the idea of writing about out travels was purely to keep a personal record, a record to look back at in years to come. So when we finally arrived in Canada I decided I would at last start to collaborate all of our memories, holidays, and emigration experiences and finally start to write.

Within a few weeks I had scribbled down a considerable amount and it was by looking at the pieces upon pieces of paper in front of me that I decided to share our story with others. “A Life Like Mine” was born, I hope you enjoy my Book.

Since the completion of my first book, A Life Like Mine, I have finished a second book, which is the first in a series of books based on the same animal character and his naughty escapades. My third book will be in two parts and again will be written around a central character. I intend to continue to write fiction for children, teenagers and adults.
